A major new monograph on the art of Emily Young
19 June 2024
Exploring the artist’s carved works from the 1980s to the present, Jon Wood’s thoughtful survey places Young’s sculpture within its art historical and more broadly cultural context, drawing attention to the richness of her sculptural imagination and the issues that charge it, from ecology and environmentalism to poetry and philosophy. The book also features Young’s early paintings and her long-standing preoccupation with narrative. The Flute Player, carved in caramel onyx in 2023 and currently available for sale at the gallery, is beautifully illustrated within the book.
Richard Green will be exhibiting several sculptures by Emily Young at The Treasure House Art Fair from 27th June-22nd July, including Blue Moth Torso II, which will feature in their Sculpture Walk celebrating Leading British Female Sculptors. The Trail, set both inside the fair and in the gardens of the Royal Chelsea Hospital, will also include works by Barbara Hepworth and Elizabeth Frink.
